13:50-15:10 Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology: The only archaeological museum in northern Taiwan, the museum is dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture of the Shihsanhang archaeological site, which dates from approximately 1,800 to 500 years ago. Its exhibitions feature excavated artifacts, human skeletal remains, and everyday utensils. The museum also includes an archaeological learning and activity room and an interactive exhibition area for children, providing educational and entertaining experiences. Designed by architect Sun Te-hung, the museum’s distinctive building received the Taiwan Architecture Award. It was constructed using exposed concrete, sandstone, and weathered metal panels, symbolizing the meeting of the mountains and the sea as well as the passage of history.
15:10-15:40 Danjiang Bridge: Planned in 1998 and scheduled to fully open in May 2026, the bridge spans the Tamsui River and connects the Tamsui and Bali districts of New Taipei City. In addition to easing local traffic congestion, it connects Provincial Highways 61 and 64, providing convenient access to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and downtown Taipei. The bridge is expected to transform Tamsui from the end of the road network into an important transportation hub.
15:40-17:00 Fort San Domingo: Standing in Tamsui for more than three centuries, Fort San Domingo is distinguished by its striking red exterior walls. The site contains buildings dating from the Dutch and Spanish colonial period, the Qing dynasty, and the Japanese colonial period, making it one of the oldest surviving historic sites in Taiwan. Its history began in 1628, when the Spanish, who governed northern Taiwan at the time, constructed the original “Fort San Domingo.”
